If you’re managing a call center and not watching these numbers daily, you’re making decisions in the dark.
1. ASR — Answer Seizure Ratio
The percentage of call attempts that actually connect. Industry standard: 60–75% for outbound. Below 50% means your routes are overloaded or your list quality is poor. This is the first number to check when something feels off.
2. ACD — Average Call Duration
How long agents spend on each call. Too short means calls are being cut off or agents are rushing. Too long means poor scripting or unresolved issues. Know your baseline, track deviations.
3. FCR — First Call Resolution
What percentage of issues get resolved on the first call without a callback. Low FCR is expensive — every unresolved call costs you a second interaction. Industry benchmark: above 70%.
4. Occupancy Rate
How much of an agent’s logged-in time is actually spent on calls vs waiting. 75–85% is healthy. Above 90% leads to burnout and errors. Below 60% means overstaffing.
5. Abandonment Rate
Callers who hung up before reaching an agent. Above 5% is a problem. It means your queue is too long or routing is broken.
Most teams track call volume. The teams that grow track all five.
